As an ex- jazz musician I chose to paint Billy Holiday when painting my last portrait. Her agony and pain showed in the latter part of her life but such great music stemmed from this.

This painting is with acrylic – showing how layers can work as they do in oil from a grisaille underpainting and utilising acrylic glazing medium in the layers. Most of this I painted with my fingers and a babywipe!
