Clare Wassermann is a painter and textile artist living in Wolverhampton, England – although here she is in Ironbridge, one of her favourite local haunts!
“I love to build layer upon layer of colours seeing how they vibrate together. Images, words and ideas emerge, are released and let go of as the work progresses. Eventually an idea for a final composition surfaces and a still point is attained.
As I work I listen to music which often comes from Hindu, Buddhist or other Eastern sources. I definitely use the energy of the music as inspiration, whether it be calming or uplifting. I also use ideas generated from my yoga and meditation practice.
Nature and wildlife are important sources of inspiration and mostly my paintings reflect our interconnectedness with all beings – a celebration of life. The work is uplifting and peaceful at the same time.
The progression of my paintings echo the qualities I try to live by as I like to hone my intuition and practise acceptance and letting go in my life. I suppose you could say that the nature of impermanence and peace are my focus.”

I work and host workshops from my gorgeous, spacious Victorian studio in Central Wolverhampton at Newhampton Arts Centre

I am a regular illustrative contributor to Juno Magazine which is a beautiful magazine for ethical, thoughtful, ecologically minded parenting. You can buy it online here or in WH Smiths and health shops.

I’m also a children’s book illustrator for American author Kathy Walsh. Here are three of them – we are currently working on a fourth. They are available on Amazon

Fab Clare! We have much in common – sadly, however, I don’t have your wonderful artistic gift.
